As an Italian receiving this Latin Award, I can confidently say that Montreal is progressing and moving forward with inclusivity and unity. My love for the Latino culture, more specifically, the Cuban culture, is what has led me to this moment. Coming from an immigrant family myself, I know just how important community and coming together is. Dicen que una imagen vale mas que mil palabras Tarantella y Rumba As I have stated in many radio interviews, my goal as an artist, aside from making music, was always to unify and bring people together. This album brought together two cultures, Italy and Cuba, two countries of resilience and strength. Two lands that I hold dear in my heart, for all the wonderful people I have met on my camino. The launch party for La Italiana de la Salsa was EPIC I checked all my boxes, and achieved everything I said I would do, and more. But the most beautiful feeling I felt that night was LOVE. Heavy lies the crown. It’s been said that before every triumph, there comes a storm. God knows I have faced many storms, and in those times, I have discovered an endurance that I did not know I had.  I have learned to accept the tribulations. “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. ” – Isaiah 41:10. 

I have put everything on the line. There is no refuge in anything I am doing. I question if it is even sane to risk so much of myself just to be able to reach that mountain top. We each have our own aspirations, and although mine involve pushing through this career, it isn’t just about the music – it’s about my happiness.  Everything is at stake, and I’ve gone all in. It takes focus, it takes discipline, and it takes serious courage to brace through every thought, doubt, disappointment and rejection. It is literally like climbing a mountain and feeling like every time you get a little higher, you are faced with a bigger obstacle that stands in your way. An obstacle that puts you at the brink of having to decide whether you should continue climbing, or if you should retreat somewhere in the valley. 

Why am I blogging about this? Because I am human, I am heart, I am the love that I put into this world. If at the end of the day, my results don’t reflect my efforts (in the eyes of the public), it won’t matter – because I gave it my all, I gave all of my heart, I sacrificed it all. Although I have learned in this time to separate things, as to not put them all in the same melting pot, the truth is, they are all in the same pot. I cannot shut off my mind, nor shut off my heart, and I simply cannot be that person who just goes cold for the benefit of something. It is just not me lol. I don’t want to reach the top of the mountain and find myself alone. The only way I get there, is by doing it the right way – by respecting my core values and not bending them for my own benefit. 

Social media isn’t all it is cut out to be, and I am an artist that believes in keeping it real – always. I also know that many of us struggle with these ideas in our daily lives so maybe I can serve as a reminder that this is part of life. 

This is the final stretch before 2025. All eyes on me, all pressure on me, all cards on deck, with no refuge and I will keep on until it is completed. I never end a chapter or a phase without having given it my all. This is the phase that I have wanted the most – while not wanting it. It has also taught me a very valuable lesson. Essentially, you hold the key to your life, and to your success, and to your future. There is no knight in shining armor, no miracle waiting at the door – no. You are the blessing, you are the light, you are what you do, you are what you choose and what you give. You are what you allow – and 2025 – be it as it may – will transpire to be the year that I allow it to be. Whoever is on board is welcome to stay, and for those who are unsure, you can secure your place at bay. This is all I can share for now. Stay tuned for what is coming and in case I don’t blog again, I wish you all the happiest of holidays. Remember to value the precious moments with your loved ones, the rest is just noise.

I know it’s early and we still have two months left before the year ends, but I feel this blog is necessary as I want to express what the last 10 months of 2024 represent and mean to me….accomplishment. I have been moving at a fast pace since the beginning of the year. Between completing my most recent album, ‘A Mi Manera’, organizing Festival Qué-Latino, organizing shows and practices with my band, all of this on top of managing my life – what a ride! 

In these autumn months (my favorite season p.s.), I take time to ground myself as I cook up the next season of my life. It is a truly inspiring time for me and I am currently working on a multitude of projects, for myself as well as for other artists. I find myself so inspired and my dreams keep on growing and growing – they are big, they are crazy and they are completely attainable. It is just a matter of consistency and pace.

So what am I working on? I can’t give too much away but I will say this: I am coming with a subject I haven’t touched before –  a not so much yet new sound. It is dreamy, it is alive, it is a side of Claudia that I have kept private in my music. I am inspired by everything old and new, the concept for the video shoot and the images are just hypnotizing and I hope it hypnotizes all of you like it does for me.

I plan to make 2025 a memorable year – filled with love, excitement, projects and success.

I plan to continue living my dolce vita, a mi manera, a modo mio, giving the best of myself to the world.

Most recently, I was contracted as Director for a music video. I truly enjoyed scripting and directing the scenes. It feels nice to do for other artists what I know I need for my own projects – and I think that is the key to success. We learn as we go that there is always room for improvement and we can always do better but it is important to share that knowledge and experience with others. Not only is it about giving back, but it enlightens and inspires me for my own projects at the same time. This is the thing about Art (and yes I capitalized it), that is so magical. It is an energy that keeps on giving. 

In this regard, I have discovered opportunities to delve into different aspects of the Arts that step out of my own career as a Singer. It is not the first time I work as a Director on a music video, nor is it the first time that I help artists to build their career, and so I think this is something that I will continue to invest my time into as I work on my career simultaneously.

The Story behind 'GLOW'

You know that look someone gives you when they are completely infatuated with you? Their eyes light up and glow and something inside of them, and you, comes alive. Sometimes it’s love, other times its passion, and it can also be both.

Can we agree to disagree that it can mean different things for the parties involved? Is it safe to say that “love” is not as simple as we imagined it to be, after watching all those wonderful Disney movies (some of which I still watch over and over today – HA!).

As humans, we glow for many reasons. We glow for lust and for the unattainable. We glow because we feel loved, or simply because we have someone’s attention. We can glow in unknown places when there is a lack of it in our current love nest, and sometimes despite all the love, we can still glow for someone else. We can also glow for ourselves…

Love triangles have existed for a long time. For the sake of this song, I am referring to an exclusive couple whereby one of the two is involved with someone else, a.k.a. cheating to many. So many stories exist with many different points of views and feelings and this blog is not intended to offend any point of view but rather, respect them.

There are happily coupled people, others not so much. At times, one or both are involved with others. Some outside party relations exist because albeit their unhappiness, they are stigmatized by divorce and afraid of the gossip it will spew should they leave each other. Some are bound for financial reasons. Some are in love with someone else of the same gender, but they have not yet come out to their family and friends, or don’t plan to. Some are simply in other relations for sexual purposes.

The point is, there are many reasons for why love triangles exist. As a society I believe we have work to do when it comes to judging these triangles. I am sure we each know someone with a story. I can tell you that I do, and they are all good people, living in complicated situations.

And so, in this next song, I explore and touch upon this subject lightly, with the underlying message being that the decisions of accepting or not accepting any complicated situation really comes down to you. If you are happy in your situation then live it. If one day you are not, then don’t.  I will let the lyrics and the video tell the rest of this story….

It can be easy to start off in any relationship with a temporary status in mind, an expiration date if you will. Sometimes promises are made and not kept and so that can keep a person in a situation longer. Yet, one can also lose track of time and find themselves changing and realizing that they are no longer comfortable in a situation. Just like, someone may be unhappily married and accept to suffer for years until one day, they just can’t suffer anymore.

Bottom line: we are all human, in search of love and all its surrounding parts.

‘Glow’ tries to encompass just that, with one tiny story amongst so many that are all worth attention and care.

IL GENIO, a.k.a. Julian Genio, is my best friend’s husband and he is also my friend. He is someone who suffered a great loss in his life; that of his father. I know of loss, but I do not know what it is to grieve the loss of a father.
Years ago, Julian lost his Dad, and it has haunted him ever since.

At the end of 2020, his wife, my best friend Stef, reached out to me. Julian wasn’t feeling so good, he was going through a rough patch. Seeing as I was returning to the music scene, and seeing as IL GENIO was also a rapper in his earlier years, she thought that perhaps expressing himself on a new song would help him emotionally and get him feeling better. However, knowing that Julian would not do it to help himself, we devised a plan to make it look like I needed his help to release a song.
So I reached out to Julian, and I asked for his help. Of course, he accepted immediately. I instantly saw that his love for music had the great power of keeping him driven, and I also saw how much he looked after me like a sister. He always encouraged me, no matter his hard days.

We were looking up beats together and finding a common interest through music. He was working on his verses and one day he sent them over. As I read the words, I felt an immense sense of sadness, but I was also impressed and proud to see him put these emotions on paper. I then wrote a chorus to emulate his emotions as best as I could and we were ready to record.
Unfortunately, we found ourselves in the middle of a pandemic and music studios were closed. So we improvised.
I went over to Stef and Julian’s house. I brought my mic and laptop, and we recorded ourselves in the closet, with a big blanket hovering over us, trying to get as much insulation as possible.I can tell you that we each came out of that closet sweating from the heat generated in that little space. We bounced the tracks to Julian’s producer, SkyBeatz and a year went by.

The truth is, I had no expectations because my sole purpose was to get Julian back on his feet and motivated. Every few months, I would receive an apology message from Julian, excusing himself for not having finished the song with his producer. Of course I needed no apology, but Julian really felt that he was helping me in my musical path, and so he was disappointed. I knew that it was not easy for Julian to write his feelings, nevertheless record them, and so I knew that releasing a song like this publicly was a big step for him. It would be a decision that only he could make when he would be ready.

Then, in November 2021, Julian messaged me to let me know that the song had been submitted for streaming and that it would shortly be released. Just like that, here we are, with a new track called “TAKE ME BACK”.

His journey, his feelings and his experience is all encompassed in this song. He was courageous and vulnerable enough to release it to the world and we are so proud of him. This is a true story that is relatable and one that was expressed  from the heart, and when good hearts align, anything is possible.

I wanted you to know the story behind Julian, this song, and the journey of producing it. No matter how broken a heart is, there is always enough space for love. In helping me, Julian helped himself, and we helped each other.

As for my best friend Stefania Dei Tigli, whom we call the wizard, I am grateful because I know that she knew very well that I would help Julian, when I too needed help.

Love makes the world go round and golden hearts keep it alive. Remember to keep the faith.
